GB Basketball at Northumbria Uni

Northumbria University Sport Central, Newcastle’s brand new sports venue, will open its doors to the public for the first time to host GB Standard Life Men’s basketball team as they take on rivals F.Y.R. Macedonia in a crucial EuroBasket 2011 qualifier.  The GB team, who topped their group in the last European Championship qualifying campaign in 2008, will be hoping to repeat their exploits in order to qualify for the 2011 EuroBasket finals in Lithuania.

The game is the first of the Game On 2010 series, presented by Standard Life, and the GB squad is boosted by the inclusion of NBA star Luol Deng and Newcastle Eagles favourite Andrew Sullivan, who enjoyed a very successful season winning the BBL League Championship and BBL Trophy Final.
