What can you say about the man who is Britains Most Listened to phone in host Alan Robson MBE? Well how much do you actually know about him?
He began his career in local rock bands and stand up comedy before becoming the North's best known and most popular radio broadcaster. So let us take a look at what Alan is all about:-
RADIO
Alan's Night Owl's programme has been market leader, the most listened to show of its kind in Britain for over 20 years. The show has won over 30 national and international awards including BRONZE WORLD MEDAL in Best Regularly Scheduled Talk Programs for the prestigious New York Radio Awards 2004...and this year his show Live From Auschwitz picked up another New York Award for the best programme idea.
Alan has also hosted THE VIBE, ROBSON ROCKS and two separate versions of THE HOT'n'HEAVY EXPRESS that has most recently become the HOT'n'HEAVY and over the years they won National awards in SOUNDS, MELODY MAKER, KERRANG, METAL HAMMER and many more. All together he has racked up 55 different awards from as far afields as the SYDNEY RADIO FESTIVAL, SONY RADIO AWARDS, CHAT MAGAZINE AWARDS and many more.
On radio Alan is known for doing outrageous and ground breaking shows that no one else can do.
* He broadcast live from a Plague Island in the Venetian Lagoon and spent the night in a crematorium oven to raise money for a local child with cerebral palsy.
* He `WALKED IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF JACK THE RIPPER' live from London, and 'WALKED IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF BRAVEHEART' live from Scotland.
* Last year he followed the path of a woman who survived the holocaust, ending up in the North East. Starting with a show live from WARSAW, Alan and his producer Matt then broadcast live from AUSCHWITZ in a gripping four hour special that told the history and horror of the world's most notorious extermination camp.
* He was attacked and bitten by wild dogs in Transylvania needing stitches and ultimately leading to an infection and pneumonia that almost killed him.
* His show SCARY CHRISTMAS petrified callers to such an extent that many were so disturbed they had to switch off, yet this show was considered one of his very best. Alan performed the first ever exorcism live on radio.
* He dumped Wayne at Newcastle International Airport to visit a haunted city square and the site of the Battle of Waterloo in Belgium.
* Two momentus live shows from the Castle of Vlad Dracule the Impaler DRACULA in Romania.
* He worked live at a cursed plantation in New Orleans with poltergeist activity from ex-slaves and Civil War prisoners.
* Live from a desecrated Cathedral near Milan with actual photographs of moving spirit.
* Visiting the Witch House, Woodchester Mansion in the Cotswolds.
* Taking listeners to Nottingham's Galleries of Justice, where Lisa swore more on peak time radio than anyone else ever had. At Loch Ness a listener had to dive out of a window in Satanist Aliestair Crowleys private cemetery. At Chillingham Castle 12 sceptics all became believers following a ghost hunt filmed for BBC 1.
* Alan tricked Wayne into going to Hanover in Germany where he set up thirty challenges at the famous zoo. Including covering his face with chocolate and making him go in with over a million flies. He was chased by baboons,assaulted by a chimp, sexually assaulted by a goat and almost swallowed by a hippo.
Following Alan leaving Wayne naked on a beach in South Shields on Christmas Day....what next.....whatever it is it will be radio you MUST listen to.
TELEVISION:
Alan has starred in fifteen different local TV series including ROBSON'S PLACE, ROBSON's PERSONAL CALL, COLLEGE CUISINE, ALAN ROBSON SHOW on TYNE TEES/YORKSHIRE. Nationally in GETTING PERSONAL ON ITV and SKY, LOST & FOUND and TROUBLE IN STORE on BBC1. He has carried out documentaries including a series talking to murderers also for BBC1.
Recently, and for the past few years he has worked on America's biggest TV network ABC on `SCARIEST PLACES ON EARTH' placing American families into haunted places across the planet. In October 2005 his shows led ABC's `THIRTEEN NIGHTS OF HALLOWEEN' with a different show each night, this brought the channel it's biggest ever figures.

He also had two columns in the Sunday Sun for 11 years, and currently writes for English speaking newspapers across the world. The News of The World serialised his ghost stories for six weeks. Wrote a rock page for the Hong Kong Star for five years.
LIVE:
Has written and starred in numerous pantomimes across the North and hosted gigs for Tina Turner,Bon Jovi, Guns'n'Roses, Rod Stewart, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Bryan Adams and hundreds of others. He is considered the King of The Roadshow and performs at over 100 events annually, mostly for charity.
CHARITY
A Trustee for Metro Radio's charity CASH FOR KIDS, President of Guide Dogs For The Blind, Patron of three Hospices, Patron of MIND, and Body Positive (AIDS HIV Trust) and 24 other great causes, Alan is very busy. Up to date he has raised £18.4 million pounds and makes a difference in peoples lives every single night.
He was given the title of FREEMAN OF BENWELL, the very first time this honour had been given to anyone. He was also given an MBE by the Queen for services to broadcasting. In the Millenium Dome they featured radio presenters, the best in the history of British Radio, Alan was the only presenter featured TWICE, once for being a LOCAL HERO and secondly for being Britains Best Late Night Radio Personality.
Not bad for a lad from Benwell........
