Great North Runner takes on the council

A Great North Runner's hit out at Gateshead Council after getting what he says was a compeltely unreasonable parking ticket on the day of the event.

John Lewins from Peterlee ran the 13 miles dressed as a gorrilla for charity.

He parked his car in Heworth but when he got back he'd been given a ticket for being outside the parking bay's lines.

He says he was on the line and the ticket shouldn't stand.

Gateshead Council sent us a statement saying they can't comment on individual cases.

How many times have we all parked a little too near the lines because the car in the next bay is over the line and if we park correctly then they will not be able to get into their car without hitting our door.
Gateshead council want to sort out the mess they have made of the bus lanes and slip roads when traveling from Birtley to join the a1 at the Angle.

Chris, you are as silly as the traffic warden (and possibly a jobsworth yourself). Whatever happened to common sense?

I can't decide whether the parking warden is an idiot, a moron, a clown or all three!

These people are like mini Hitlers, power crazed little men chasing targets for who can issue the most tickets.

wouldn't parking wardens be better off directing traffic or reopening all the blocked roads instead of hassling folk.

I bet he was on double time for working Sunday - we as council tax payees are paying for these idiots

Shame on you Gateshead - let the money off!
