About Metro Radio

Metro Radio is the North East’s biggest radio station: 'Your Music Your Life'. We broadcast from 55 Degrees North, just off the Tyne Bridge in Newcastle upon Tyne. We have 450,000 people tuning in to listen to our shows every week.

Our station is famous for playing a variety of music. Waking the region up each week day, Steve and Karen keep the mornings filled with plenty of witty North East banter. That’s just the start; then Brian Moore takes listeners through the work day kicking off with the top 10 at 10. Then at 3pm we have Stu Elmore, who broadcasts the latest hits everyday until 7pm. At 10pm North East legend Alan Robson brings the ever popular ‘Night Owls’ show to the airwaves.

We deliver the best local traffic and travel from our helicopter Starburst One, piloted each weekday morning and afternoon by our very own Captain Marky Mark.

We are proud of our heritage and care about the region we serve, and through our own charity ‘Cash for Kids’ we raise close to one million pounds every year to help disadvantaged children across the region.

Most importantly, we have devoted listeners who have grown up with us; they know, love and trust us as their very own local radio station.

We are closer to our listeners!
