On Thursday 24th January, the Strictly Come Dancing show performed its last show in Metro Radio Arena.  It’s fair to say that there was no shortage of sequins, glitter balls and fake tan. Despite previously having two quiet shows due to weather, Metro Radio Arena was full on this chilly Thursday night!

However, everyone was soon warmed up and ready to go with a great atmosphere, amazing live band who performed some classics such as New York New York. But before all that, the anticipated crowd came alive as the famous Strictly Come Dancing theme filled the arena, the glitter balls twirled and the dazzling lights lit up the ballroom.

Host for the evening Kate Thornton graced the dance floor in a beautiful floor length lace dress, smoothly followed by the three judges from the show: Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood. After a stunning opening to a Gold/Titanium fusion from the Strictly band and professional dancers, the stars of the show were welcomed onto the stage.  An energetic Lisa Riley, Phil Tufnell, Michael Vaughan, Denise Van Outon, Dani Harmer, Fern Britton and current Strictly Champion Louis Smith came onto the dance floor with their professional partners. There was a few changes, Dani was dancing with new partner Pasha and Louis won the evening once again with Ola Jordan.

The night ran smoothly, at times slightly scripted, but all in good fun with a variety of comment from all three judges. The only wardrobe malfunction was Fern Cotton getting her tassel caught on partner Artem’s shirt. It wasn’t that however that got Artem to take his top off; it was the persuasion of the North East audience along with presenter Kate Thornton.
