Sunderland’s Herrington Park played host to the regions very first Miles for Men race at the weekend, which saw around 100 men and boys complete the 5k charity race.
Organiser Joanna Makepeace said that although the event did not fill capacity, she plans to hold the event on an annual basis, in the hope of matching other event such as ‘Miles for Men Hartlepool’.
The Organiser then went on to praise the past and present sponsor of the event who have assisted in the raising over £85,000 for the charity.
One participant, ‘Deano Franciosy’ was among the participants, completed the race with a 45lb backpack, 1lb per year of his age.
Franciosy then went on to say “it’s for such a good cause and it is the first year, so I wanted to be part of it”
