Metro Radio are pleased to announce that following the huge success Miles for Men in 2013, this year is set to spread to further locations and raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.
Organised by a small group of family and friends, Miles for Men brings together men across the region in an effort to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
Hundreds gathered at Newcastle’s Exhibition Park last year to run, jog or walk the 5k route geared up to show cancer who’s boss.
Dads, friends, brothers and mates across the region huddled at the start line showing huge community spirit and great passion for the cause. Policemen also backed the race and powered through in full riot gear. Geordie fundraiser ‘Tony the Fridge’ even auctioned his 40kg fridge to five determined lads who took turns to carry the fridge to the finish line.
So far, Miles for Men has raised an astonishing £43,312.00 across the region for Cancer Research UK.
This year intends to take the bull by the horns and encourage gents across the North East help fight over 200 types of cancer with further races planned at various exciting locations.
The lads aren’t the only ones who can get involved; there will be plenty of activities and entertainment for the whole family while the men are en route to the finish line.
This year’s races will be announced shortly, until then you can visit www.milesformen.co.uk for more information.
