On Wednesday August 10th Metro Radio News is putting You in charge for the day.We're handing the power to YOU to shape our news with the stories YOU want!

News YOU Choose

To take part in our experiment, a UK radio first, just follow Metro Radio on Facebook and on Twitter and listen to our hourly news on air.

Throughout the day we'll ask you to select what stories should be in our news bulletins, listen to your ideas for interviewees and give you the opportunity to submit news from where you live.

Metro Radio's Head of News, Justin Kings says it's an attempt by the news team to get closer to you:

"We strive to put out news on air and on line which is relevant to Metro's listeners and "News You Choose Day" will give us a unique insight into what the audience cares about. We know many listeners use Facebook and Twitter as part of their everyday lives and here's a chance to use social media to help us broadcast news from the north east to the north east. Will we have radically different news to other media on the day? Possibly but that's up to every listener taking part!"

Deputy Editor, joel Goldman will be live blogging here throughout the day so you can make suggestions, ask questions and find out what's going on in the newsroom... He may even have time for a bit of banter!


We'll also be putting video of the Metro morning news meeting on this page (this is when the team decide on the big stories of the day) along with regular updates on what we're doing.
